DipaliZ Striped Boho Beach Towel Turkish Peshtemal

This lightweight peshtemal beach towel carries a navy stripe and a fringed edge. Stripes are the oldest pattern on a Turkish towel and still the most practical, since they hide sand and creasing better than a plain weave. It is 38 by 81 inches and made from polyester.

The story behind this design

The striped peshtemal is the original: woven in Turkish bathhouses for centuries before anyone took one to a beach. The stripe was there because it is the simplest thing a loom can do, and it has outlasted every pattern that came after it.
