The story behind this design

Patchwork in knitwear usually comes from thrift and salvage, the look of a garment mended from whatever was in the basket. Here it is deliberate, which means the blocks can be sized and placed rather than left to chance, and each one gets a full section of the sleeve instead of a scrap. Red holds the whole thing together by being the one color that appears nowhere in the patchwork.

Frequently asked questions

Q: What are the patchwork sleeves on this cardigan?
A: The sleeves are worked in blocks of contrasting color rather than a single shade, against a red body.

Q: What is the cardigan knitted from?
A: 55% cotton and 45% polyester.

Q: Which sizes are sold?
A: Eight: 2XS, XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL.

Q: Is this a bold cardigan to wear?
A: Yes. A red body with patchwork sleeves is a statement piece, and it works best with plain colors underneath.

Care

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, inside out, and alone for the first wash, since red runs onto lighter blocks. No bleach and no tumble drying; dry flat. Cool iron on the reverse.
