Cropping a garment forces a dragon into an awkward format - the creature is long and the canvas is short - so this version is drawn coiled, with the tail running back around the body to complete the loop at the side seam. Scales are rendered loosely enough that they read as texture at a distance and detail up close. The black stitching was the right call: white seams would have cut the coil into panels.
