The story behind this design

Putting all the color in the sleeves is an old trick from sportswear and it works for the same reason here: the front of the garment stays calm, so the wearer is not committing to a rainbow in every photograph. The bands are stacked horizontally down each arm at even depths, which reads as intentional rather than as leftover yarn. Light blue was chosen for the body because it belongs to the same cool half of the spectrum as the top of the sleeve.

Frequently asked questions

Q: Where is the rainbow on this cardigan?
A: In the sleeves. The body is a plain light blue and the color bands run down the arms.

Q: What is the fabric?
A: 55% cotton and 45% polyester.

Q: What sizes can I order?
A: Eight sizes: 2XS, XS, S, M, L, XL, 2XL and 3XL.

Q: Is this cardigan loud to wear?
A: Less than it sounds. Keeping the color to the sleeves means the cardigan reads as plain from the front and only shows its bands when the arms move.

Care

Machine wash cold on a gentle cycle, inside out, and alone for the first wash, since several strong colors sit next to a pale body. No bleach and no tumble drying; dry flat. Cool iron on the reverse.
